The Marine Corps PFT is scored from published tables in Marine Corps Order 6100.13A, with changes announced through MARADMINs. Here's how the score is built in 2026, and how to work out your total.

The three events

  • Upper body: pull-ups (up to 100 points) or push-ups (up to 70 points).
  • Core: forearm plank, 1:10 for 40 points to 3:45 for 100, the same for everyone.
  • Cardio: 3-mile run, with standards by age and sex.

Passing and classes

You must score at least the minimum in every event (40 points, or 60 for women's pull-ups) and at least 150 in total. A high total doesn't make up for missing an event minimum.

What changed in 2026

According to MARADMIN 613/25, effective 1 January 2026, Marines with a combat arms primary MOS are scored on the male, age-normed PFT tables regardless of sex and must reach at least 210 points. Marines outside combat arms remain on the sex- and age-normed tables with the 150-point standard. Separately, MARADMIN 066/26 replaced the height and weight screening with a waist-to-height ratio standard. Your unit will brief the details, which may continue to be updated.

Calculating your total

Points between the minimum and maximum rise steadily. For example, for men aged 21–25, pull-ups run from 40 points at 5 reps to 100 at 23, about 3.3 points per rep. A Marine with 15 pull-ups, a 2:45 plank and a 22:30 run scores about 73 + 76 + 72 = 221, which is 2nd class. Enter your numbers in the PFT calculator; tick the combat arms box to apply the 2026 standard.

Where to gain points fastest

  • Switching from push-ups to pull-ups can be worth up to 30 points.
  • The plank gains about a point every 2–3 seconds; see plank training.
  • Each 10 seconds off your run is worth around a point or more for most groups; see 3-mile run training.

This is an independent guide. Official scoring tables and orders take precedence; the calculator interpolates between published standards and can differ by about a point.
